Escape Velocity Nova: This game like its predecessors Escape Velocity and Escape Velocity Override, was originally published for Macintosh. Seeing as how I don't currently own a reasonably capable mac, I bought the Windows version. The theme is that you're the pilot of a interstellar spacecraft and you have options of trading commodities, fighting, and performing missions. You can buy new ships, upgrade your ship with an impressive variety of options, and in general use quite a lot of detail. You can download the game and play, up to a point, without buying it. (I wanted to play beyond that point; I bought it.) I am going to offer pilot files to you, in case you aren't as patient as I am at going through the boring process of running trade routes. If you want to use these, all you have to do is put them into the pilots folder of the game, and load them from within the game. Cambrian and Cash: This pilot has a Cambrian ship (polaris ship with 3500 cargo space) and 18 million credits worth of cash. He hasn't started any of the major storylines, and of the minor he's only started the UE Shipping and Chungo hunt (neither exciting, you probably won't miss them). I don't think he's killed anything, so his combat rating is pathetic. Full Map: This pilot is a continuation of the above. He has a Pirate Thunderhead modified for long-range work (four batteries, four solar panels, dropped some weapons) and has explored the entire galaxy. He still hasn't done much fighting, so his combat rating is small, and hasn't done any more missions than UE Shipping and Chungo hunt. Warcraft 3: This is published by blizzard.com and it is of the real-time strategy genre. I have been told that it's pretty well balanced in the competitive games, but I don't know enough to tell as I don't play the standard games. I play the custom games, and as such I offer you the only custom map for WC3 I have made: King Bester's Color Defense: This is a cube-defense style tower defense map. The idea is to defeat all of the enemies which come through your area. It has various difficulty settings, etc. The different color towers have different abilities, all explained by their buttons, and I have rebalanced them so that the upgrades are power-of-2 more powerful (and expensive) than the previous. |
